Dōitashimashite! Chibo Okonomiyaki's Umami Meals To Try in Mandaluyong

It was a year ago when Chibo Okonomiyaki opened its first restaurant in S Maison Pasay City, here in the Philippines. It aspires to serve Filipino families by presenting Osaka-based origin restaurant, concept by the General Hideyoshi Totoyomi. In history, Hideyoshi built his castle with "Chibo" in its flag. He likes gold and calligraphy.

Chibo has been popular in Osaka with their okonomiyaki and teppanyaki table offerings. The one in S Maison have "teppan" on the tables, but not in Podium, Mandaluyong. The idea is to have wider and spacious tables for people who wants to maximize and meals and have more conversations.



Premium Executive Set Meals are the sought-after grabs in Chibo Okonomiyaki. All comes with rice, topped with your choice of proteins, hot miso soup, potato salad, and house-blend iced tea. The Unagi Kabayaki Ju at P888 (left photo), one of their best sellers, is Japanese eel marinated in sweet sake that brings a smoky barbecue flavor.


This hefty Cheese Hamburger Steak brings the meat and cheese lover closer to each other. Patty made up of ground pork and beef worths P588. Immerse in the rich, juicy steak glazed in barbecue sauce and right before your eyes, that melting cheese oozes out in every slice. Cheese Hamburger Steak is more straight-forward meaty meal at P488.

Bringing out the highlight of the day is the signature Chibo Okonomiyaki at P380. This star is composed of prawns, beef, pork, and scallops. Be careful with the teppan, it is always served sizzling hot.

Another star spotted, Omusoba (Japanese Omelette), is Yakisoba wrapped in stylish omellete. Good grab at P288.


Think no more if you want Yakisoba and Okonomiyaki. Here's Osaka Meal at P588, you'll get half of both in one hot teppan plate.

Oden Meal is only available at Podium branch. A whole meal with grilled fish cake, deep-fried fish cake, konnyaku, and daikon radish in Japanese-style stew, partnered with grilled salmon. That's a plenty meal at P588 for one average stomach.
These are behind-the-scenes of Chibo Okonomiyaki's pride. Glazing something sweet on that dense base. What's sitting on top of it is something precious, worth the grand entrance. So everyone, all hail to Shirayukihime...

...The Snow Princess. What you get is the extra soft textured Okonomiyaki as the base with prawn, bacon, pork, tomato, avocado, cheese, topped with Meringue.
